An angel is a spirit-being whose office and character is one of a messenger in official service via words and/or actions. The word "angel" comes from the Greek word aggello which means to tell or deliver a message - and therefore an angel could be called a "messenger."
Angels were already created prior to the creation of mankind (refer to Job 38:7).
But those angels who have refused to take their instructions from God and have instead decided to follow the devil are known as devils (devil-spirits, demons, evil, unclean or unholy spirits). The devil (satan, the snake/serpent, etc) was once one of God's angels, but he rebelled against God wanting to take God's place and he continues attempting to do so.
We should also note that the Bible shows us that no human-being was or is or will be a spirit-being angel! Refer to Hebrews chapter 1.
The following records provide information on the activities and capabilities of various angels. Additional details are provided in the True Bible Study published paperback books.
Matthew chapter 1 details the genesis of Jesus Christ - and that an angel belonging to God communicated information during those times:
.18But the genesis of Jesus Christ was thus: (after) his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before them coming-together, she was found having in (her) womb from Holy Spirit. .19But Joseph, her husband being righteous and not intending to point her out, was deliberately-determined to loosen her unnoticeably from (him), .20but (after) his being caused-to-think these-things within - look!, an angel of (the) Lord was brought-to-light according to a dream to him saying, "Joseph, son of David, let you not be caused-fear to take Mary your wife beside (yourself), for the-thing having been begotten in her is from Holy Spirit. .21She will bring-forth a son and you will call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."
In verse 20 we read – look! (behold, see; in the sense of calling attention), an angel of the Lord became evident by shining light according to a dream to Joseph saying (this angel communicated his information via a specific significant dream):
Further along in this record it says:
Verses 24 and 25:
.24But Joseph, having been raised-up from sleep, did as the angel of (the) Lord arranged towards him and he took his wife beside (himself), .25and he used-to not know her until where she brought-forth a son, and he called his name Jesus.
When Joseph awoke from sleep, he did as the Lord's angel arranged (put or set in-order) towards/with him and he took his wife beside him - and continually during that time he did not know her (sexually) until the time where she brought-forth a son.Joseph continued to do what the angel told him to do and he called this son's name Jesus.
God's Word specifically notes again that Joseph was not the father of this son. It was only after Jesus' birth that Joseph caused Mary to become pregnant and they had their own children.
Matthew chapter 2 details the family relocating to Egypt and after a certain time going back again to Israel - and that an angel belonging to God communicated information during those times:
.13But (after) their departing, look!, an angel of (the) Lord is brought-to-light according to a dream to Joseph saying, "Having been raised-up, you must take the young-child and his mother beside (yourself) and flee into Egypt, and you must be there until ever I may say to you, for Herod is about to seek-after the young-child to destroy him."
.14Having been raised-up, he took the young-child beside (himself) and his mother of night and departed into Egypt; .15and he used-to-be there until the completion of Herod, in order that the-thing may be fulfilled having been said by (the) Lord by means of the prophet saying, "Out-from Egypt I called My son."
After the magi had gone on their way home – look (behold, see)! – an angel of the Lord became evident by shining light according to a dream again to Joseph saying:
When Joseph woke-up, he took the young child beside himself and his mother, Mary, under cover of night, and departed into Egypt. Joseph, with Mary and Jesus, was in Egypt for a period of about three months - until the completion of Herod (the end of Herod's life; certain scholars indicate that Herod died early 1 B.C.).
Further along in this record it says:
Further along in this record it says:
.19But (after) Herod having completed (his life), look!, an angel of (the) Lord is brought-to-light according to a dream to Joseph in Egypt .20saying, "Having been raised-up you must take the young-child and his mother beside (yourself) and journey into (the) land of Israel, for the (people) seeking-after the soul of the young-child have died2."
.21Having been raised-up he took the young-child and his mother beside (himself) and went into (the) land of Israel, .22but having heard that Archelaus reigns-as-king of Judea in-the-place of his father Herod he was caused-fear to go-away there. But having been instructed-with-business according to a dream he departed into the parts of Galilee, .23and having come he dwelt-down into (the) city being said (as) Nazareth, so-that the-thing may be fulfilled having been said by means of the prophets that he will be called Nazarene.
After Herod's completion or end of life (his death) – look! – an angel of the Lord became evident by shining light according to a dream to Joseph while he was living in Egypt. The angel said to him:
Here, the angel uses a figure of speech to refer to Herod who had died by using the plural to refer to the singular, and thus emphasizes that when Herod died, satan and those who do what he says (Herod and all those who were under his command) stopped at that time doing what he ordered them to do which was to kill the young child, the king, the Christ.
So, when Joseph woke-up, he took the young child and his mother beside himself and went into the land of Israel. The angel had not told Joseph which part of the land of Israel to go to. When Joseph arrived he heard that Archelaus now reigned as king in/over the area of Judea (including Samaria which is just north of Judea) instead of his father Herod, and Joseph was afraid to go back into Judea where Bethlehem was.
However, God's Word tells us that Joseph was given instructions as to what to do (how to carry out his business, his affairs in this situation) according to a dream. Therefore he departed into the parts of Galilee, which is where he came from before he and Mary had to travel to Bethlehem prior to Jesus' birth. Galilee is north of Judea and Samaria and had become under the rulership of another one of Herod's sons named Herod Antipas.
When Joseph arrived in Galilee he dwelt in the city called Nazareth. It was in this manner that what had been spoken by means of the prophets would be fulfilled: that he (the Christ, Messiah, savior) will be called Nazarene.
We should notice that Joseph believed and obeyed what the angel told him – he did not say, "Oh, I've got a better idea"!
Matthew chapter 4 details some of the temptations that Jesus endured - and that angels ministered to Jesus afterwards:
.8Again the devil takes him beside (himself) into a very high mountain and points-out to him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory, .9and said to him, "All these-things I will give to you if-ever having fallen you may worship me."
.10Then Jesus says to him, "You must go, satan, for it was written2, 'You will worship (the) Lord your God and you will render-service only to Him. '"
.11Then the devil leaves him; and look!, angels came-towards (Jesus) and used-to minister to him.
After the devil left Jesus following Jesus' imperative command for him to go, angels came towards Jesus and spent time ministering to him. These spirit-beings served to benefit Jesus; they were doing work to bring him profit, taking care of him as regards what he needed at that time.
Matthew chapter 13 details Jesus' explanation of a parable that he had spoken - and that angels will assist during the time of the last judgments:
.36Then having left the crowds he went into the house. And his learning-disciples came-towards him saying, “You must make-throughly-clear to us the parable of the weeds of the field.”
.37And the (one) having answered said, “The (person) sowing the beautiful seed is the son of man, .38and the field is the world, and the beautiful seed these-people are the sons of the kingdom; but the weeds are the sons of the evil-one, .39and the enemy, the (enemy) having sown them, is the devil; but the harvest is (the) completing-together of (the) age, and the harvesters are angels.
.40Therefore wholly-as the weeds are collected and are burned-down with fire, thus it will be in the completing-together of the age: .41the son of man will apostle his angels and they will collect out-from his kingdom all the offenses and the (ones) doing the lawlessness, .42and they will throw them into the furnace of fire; the crying and the gnashing of the teeth will be here.
In verse 39 Jesus says:
Jesus continues: "Following-on logically from what I have just spoken - wholly-as the weeds are collected and are burned-down with fire, in this manner it will be in the completing-together of the age:
Matthew chapter 16 records Jesus talking about a future time - and that the angels will come with the Lord Jesus Christ:
.24Then Jesus said to his learning-disciples, “If someone intends to come behind me he must deny-from himself and lift his cross and follow me; .25for who if-ever may intend to save his soul will destroy it, but who ever may destroy his soul by-reason-of me will find it. .26For what will a man be profited if-ever he may gain the whole world but he is caused-to-receive-loss (of) his soul? Or what exchange of his soul will a man give? .27For the son of man is about to come in the glory of his Father with his angels and then he will give-away to each-person according to his practice.
In verse 27 Jesus continues regarding an event that was still future at the time that he spoke about it in this record.
This event will occur towards the end of the wrath time-period, which is recorded in the Book of Revelation chapters 19 and 20.
Matthew chapter 18 shows God's care for the people who believe into Jesus - and that God’s angels continue to perform their assignments of benefiting the heirs of salvation:
Matthew 18:10 and 12-14:
.10You must see (that) you may not despise one of these small-ones, for I say to you that the angels of them in (the) heavens continually observe the face of my Father, the (Father) in (the) heavens. .12What is considered by you – if-ever a hundred sheep may become to some man and one may be caused-to-wander out-from them, he will leave the ninety nine sheep on the mountains and having journeyed he seeks-after the (one sheep) being caused-to-wander, won’t he? - (yes.) .13And if-ever he may become to find it, with-certainty I say to you that he joys on it rather than on the ninety nine, the (sheep) not having been caused-to-wander2.
.14Thus it is not (the) intention on-front-of my Father, the (Father) in (the) heavens, in order that one of these small-ones may destroy-themselves.
Jesus continues by describing a man with sheep, and what the man will do even if it is only one sheep that would be caused to wander away from where all the sheep were supposed to stay. The man didn’t want any of the sheep to go away from him. Many times in Jesus’ teachings he compared the people of Israel/Judah to sheep.
Matthew chapter 22 records people questioning Jesus about resurrection - and his answer included the fact that angels do not have children.
.23In that day Sadducees, saying not to be resurrection, came-towards him and asked him .24saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If-ever someone may die not having children his brother will marry-on his wife and cause-to-stand-up seed to his brother.’ .25But there used-to-be with us seven brothers, and the first having married completed (his life) and not having seed he left his wife to his brother, .26likewise also the second and the third until the seven (brothers), .27and afterwards of all (brothers) the wife died. .28In the resurrection therefore (the) wife will be of whom of the seven (brothers), for all had her?”
.29But Jesus having answered said to them, “You are caused-to-wander not having known2 the writings nor the ability of God, .30for in the resurrection neither do they marry nor are they caused-to-get-married but they are as angels in the heaven. .31But concerning the resurrection of the dead-people you read the-thing having been said to you by God saying, .32‘I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob,’ didn’t you? He is not the God of dead-people but of (the people) living.”
.33And having heard the crowds used-to-be shocked on his teaching.
In verse 29 Jesus answered the Sadducees, who did not believe regarding resurrection or angels, by saying to them:
All people who will be resurrected to eternal life by means of God’s ability will receive their new spiritual bodies and will be living, never to die again. They will not have any need to marry so as to have children to continue their own name and lineage because they will not die anymore and the name and lineage that they will receive will be the Christ, the promised seed. We must note that Jesus did not say that anyone would become an angel!
Matthew chapter 24 records Jesus talking about a future time - and that the angels will have assignments to carry-out:
.29But immediately after the pressure of those days ‘the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give her light, and the stars will fall from the heaven, and the abilities of the heavens will be shaken,’ .30and then the sign of the son of man will be brought-to-light in heaven, and ‘then all the tribes of the earth will lament’ and they will see ‘the son of man coming on the clouds of heaven’ with much ability and glory, .31and he will apostle his angels ‘with a great trumpet sound and they will gather-together his selected-people out-from the four winds from (the) extremities of (the) heavens until their extremities.’
In verse 31 Jesus refers to himself being the son of man and that he...
Further along in this record it says:
Further along in this record it says:
.36But concerning that day and hour not-one-person knew2, neither the angels of the heavens nor the son, except the Father only. .37For wholly-as the days of Noah thus the presence of the son of man will be, .38for as they used-to-be in the days, the (days) before the flood, eating and drinking, marrying and getting-married, continuously-until which day Noah went into the ark, .39and they did not know until the flood came and lifted all-people-together, thus the presence of the son of man will be.
In verse 36 Jesus continues: "But concerning that day and hour...
In truth, just as the days of Noah - in this manner the son of man’s coming to be present will be…
Matthew chapter 25 records Jesus talking about a future time - and that God's angels will come with the Lord Jesus Christ, plus the fact that the devil and his angels will be destroyed by fire:
.31But whenever the son of man may come in his glory and all the angels with him, then he will sit-down on his throne of glory, .32and all the Gentiles will be gathered-together in-front-of him and he will separate them from one-another wholly-as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, .33and he will cause indeed the sheep to-stand out-from his right-sides but the little-goats out-from (his) left-sides.
In this passage, Jesus is teaching and explaining about his future gathering and judgment on earth of the Gentiles/nations (people belonging to nations other-than Israel/Judah) which will happen after he has gathered the believing Israelites/Judeans together with him.
Jesus said prophesying: “At whatever time the son of man may come in his glory (within the sphere of action of his importance, splendor, and renown) and all the angels in company and association with him - then at that time…
Further along in this record it says:
Further along in this record it says:
.41Then (the king) will say also to the (people) out-from (his) left-sides, ‘You must journey away-from me (you who are) having been cursed2 into the fire, the agelong (fire), the (fire) having been prepared2 for the devil and his angels;
Matthew chapter 26 details part of what happened when Jesus was arrested - and that Jesus could have asked his Father, God, to send angels to help him at that time if it were the right thing to do:
.51And look!, one of the (learning-disciples) with Jesus having stretched-out (his) hand pulled-away his sword and having struck the slave of the chief-priest he took-away his ear. .52Then Jesus says to him, “You must turn-away your sword into its place, for all the (people) having taken sword will destroy-themselves in sword, .53or do you consider that I am not able to encourage my Father and He will present to me now more-than twelve legions of angels? .54Therefore how may the writings be fulfilled that thus it is necessary to come-to-pass?”
When people came towards Jesus and threw their hands on him and strongly-held him...
It doesn’t say that the ear fell to the ground - and in Luke 22:51 it records that Jesus touched the slave's ear and healed him.
Then Jesus says to him:
A legion of soldiers was usually 6,000 - and 12 times 6,000 is 72,000. Jesus would have encouraged God for angels to help him at that time if it were the right thing to do - but Jesus was carrying out God’s will. Even in this situation Jesus continued to teach his learning-disciples.
Matthew chapter 28 details events after the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ - and that God's angels assisted and communicated necessary messages during these events:
28:1But (during) late of sabbaths with the lighting-on into (day-)one of (the) sabbaths, Mary the Magdelene came and the other Mary to view the grave with-attention. .2And look!, a great quake came-to-pass, for an angel of (the) Lord having descended out-from heaven and having come-towards (the grave) rolled-away the stone and used-to sit-down upon it, .3and his appearance used-to-be as lightning and his clothing white as snow. .4But from the fear of him the (soldiers) keeping (the grave) were caused-to-quake and they were caused-to-become as dead-people.
Verse 2 records that a large shaking motion (a shocking movement, a seismic event) happened – in truth, an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and he came towards the grave where Jesus had been buried, and…
This angel’s appearance was as lightning (what could be seen of him was as the quick supplying of light - very bright) and his clothing white as snow.
Some of the soldiers from the temple guard were assigned to keep an eye on the grave, but they became afraid and were shocked and then they stopped moving just as dead-people stop moving.
The 2 women who came towards the grave late Saturday, as mentioned in verse 1, did not witness the events in verses 2-4.
These women plus others came to the grave early the next morning on Sunday:
.5But the angel having answered said to the women, “You must not be fearful, for I knew2 that you seek-after Jesus, the (one) having been crucified2 – .6he is not here, for he was raised-up according as he said; come-this-way, you must see the place where he used-to-lie; .7and quickly having journeyed you must say to his learning-disciples that, ‘He was raised-up away-from the dead-people, and look!, he leads you forth into Galilee, there you will see him.’ Look!, I said to you.”
The angel answered the women by saying…
Acts chapter 5 records an angel opening the door of a prison to release the apostles and he communicated a message to them:
.17But the chief-priest having stood-up and all the (people) together with him, the sect being of the Sadducees, were filled of jealousy .18and they threw (their) hands on the apostles and they put them in a public keeping.
.19But an angel of (the) Lord, by means of night having opened the doors of the prison and having led them out, said, .20"You must journey and, having been caused-to-stand, you must utter-forth in the temple to the people all the spoken-matters of this life," .21(a)and having heard (him) they went into the temple under daybreak and they taught.
The chief-priest stood up with the backing and support of the members of the faction of Sadducees, and they were filled with jealousy. Then they arrested the apostles with force and placed them where the common criminals would be put.
However, one of the Lord's angels was sent to help them, and he opened the doors of the prison (the watch, guard area) during the night-time darkness and led the apostles out.
This angel gave the apostles a message - that they must go into the temple, and when they have been caused to stand there, they must speak to the people...
Standing is the position to be in when speaking God’s words to the people in the temple, not just talking or teaching about what God says. These men were given the authority to stand in the temple and – “you must utter-forth in the temple to the people all the spoken-matters of this life."
What life? The holy spirit-life that God made available to mankind by means of the Lord Jesus Christ on the day of Pentecost following his resurrection when God raised him up from among the rest of those who remain dead and gave him his new spiritual body.
From God's point of view, this holy spirit-life is what makes a person alive; without holy spirit-life a person is dead. A person may be living in the physical, fleshy, natural category, but without that third-part which is holy spirit he/she is like every other animal or breathing-thing on the face of the earth - he/she is not a child of the only true God!
Having heard what the angel said, the apostles went at daybreak (while the sun was rising) into the temple and they taught the people. They instructed them with and regarding the spoken-matters of this life.
Acts chapter 7 records what Stephen said giving the history of many events - and that an angel helped Moses, plus that the law of Moses was arranged via angels (refer to verses 30, 35, and 38):
.30And forty years having been fulfilled, an angel in a flame of fire of a bramble-bush was seen by him in the desert-place of Mount Sinai, .31but Moses having seen marveled (at) the seen-object and (during) his going-towards to mentally-perceive (it the) sound of (the) Lord came-to-pass: .32'I (am) the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob.'
But Moses having become in-a-tremble did not dare to mentally-perceive, .33but the Lord said to him, 'You must loosen the sandal of your feet for the place on which you stood2 is holy land. .34Having seen I saw the bad-treatment of My people, the (people) in
, and I heard their groaning and I descended to take them out-to-Myself, and now come-this-way (so that) I may apostle you into Egypt .' Egypt
.35This Moses whom they denied having said, 'Who constituted you a ruler and a judge-of-right?' – this-person God apostled2 a ruler and a redeemer, together with (the) hand of an angel, the (angel) having been seen by him in the bramble-bush –
.36this-person led them out having done wonders and signs in (the) land of Egypt and in (the) Red Sea and in the desert-place forty years – .37this-person is Moses, the (person) having said to the sons of
, 'God will cause-to-stand-up a prophet to you out-from your brothers as me,' – Israel
.38this-person is the (person) having become in the church in the desert-place with the angel, the (angel) uttering-forth to him in
Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, who accepted living declared-words to give to us,
Further along in this record it says:
Further along in this record it says:
.51Hard-necked-people and not-circumcised-people with (your) hearts and with (your) ears! You always fall-against the Spirit, the Holy (Spirit) – as your fathers also you. .52Who of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed the (people) having messaged-beforehand concerning the coming of the righteous-one of-whom now you became betrayers and murderers, .53the-people-who received the law into (the) arrangement of the angels and you did not keep-watch!"
In verse 51 Stephen is not talking about physical circumcision. These men were rejecting what God says with/in their hearts (the center or core of their beings, the seat of their whole personal selves and lives, on the inside) and they did not want to hear God's words to them. Stephen says:
Galatians chapter 3 includes information that the law of Moses was arranged via angels:
Galatians 3:19 and 20:
.19Therefore why (did) the law of the practices (come)? (The law came) continuously-until where the seed may come to whom it was promised2; (the law) having been throughly-arranged by means of angels in (the) hand of a mediator; .20but the mediator is not of one (party) – but God is one (party).
Paul asks a logical question which may arise in our minds having read what he has written so far in this letter:
God was doing what was necessary for Him to keep the covenant (the binding agreement) that He made unconditionally with Abraham by ensuring that Abraham's seed (the Christ) would come.
This law of the practices had been arranged through and through (put fully in order)…
Paul explains: "but the mediator is not of one (party) – but God is one (party)."
Moses was the mediator relative to the law. He mediated between God (via His angels) and the children of Israel. The law came continuously-until where the seed would come to whom it was promised and continues promised.
Abraham's seed is the Christ to whom the promise of the spirit was made, and there is no mediator between God and Christ!
Hebrews chapter 2 refers to the law of Moses being arranged via angels:
Hebrews 2:2 and 3:
.2for if the word having been uttered-forth by means of angels became firm and all stepping-aside and disobedience received a rightly-due compensation-payment, .3how will we escape having been unconcerned of so-great a salvation...
In verse 2, Paul writes: In truth…
Acts chapter 8 records an angel giving instructions to Philip:
Acts 8:26 and 27:
.26But an angel of (the) Lord uttered-forth towards Philip saying, "You must stand-up and you must journey according to (the) south on the way, the (way) descending away-from
into Jerusalem ." This (way) is a desert-place. .27And having stood-up he journeyed. Gaza
At that time the Lord sent an angel with a message for Philip telling him to stand up and pass southwards on the way, specifically the way that goes down from
Did Philip say, "No, thanks for considering me but to be honest I prefer to stay here"? Or did he say to the angel, "I think you've got your message wrong - do you expect me to believe that God wants me to go to a lonely desert area when He could choose a more populated area anywhere else on the face of the earth?" No! When Philip heard what the angel said, God’s Word graphically describes what he did – he stood-up and then he journeyed!
Acts chapter 10 records details about the first Gentile-person becoming a holy-person (a true Christian) - he was not a Judean/Israelite in background - but an angel communicated information to him:
10:1But some adult-male in Caesarea, Cornelius by-name - a centurion out-from (the) corps, the (corps) being called Italian, .2reverential and being fearful (towards) God together with all his house, doing many merciful-deeds for the people and supplicating God continually - .3manifestly saw in a seen-object as-though about (the) ninth hour of the day an angel of God having come-into (his house) towards him and having said to him, "Cornelius."
Cornelius was a military officer commanding a hundred men from the Italian body of men-at-arms in
As recorded in verse 3 - on this day at about in the afternoon Cornelius clearly and evidently saw within a seen-object (something presented to his eyes so that he would see and perceive and know it) – what? – an angel.
This angel was a spirit-being sent from God with a message for Cornelius and he said his name. Let us continue on and see what Cornelius' reaction was:
.4And he, having gazed-intently-on him and having become fearful-within, said, "What is it, Lord?" And he said to him, "Your prayers and your merciful-deeds ascended into a remembrance in-front-of God; .5and now you must send adult-males into Joppa and you must send-after Simon, someone who is called Peter, .6this-person is lodged-as-a-guest with someone (named) Simon, a tanner, whose house is beside (the) sea."
.7And as the angel, the (angel) uttering-forth to him, went-away, having sounded (for) two of the household-servants and a reverential soldier of the (people) being strong-with him, .8and having told-out all-things-together to them, he apostled them into Joppa.
When Cornelius fixed his eyes intently upon the angel and had become fearful within himself, he asked "What is it?" And he addressed this angel as "Lord" - not because he thought that the angel was God or the Lord Jesus Christ, but because from Cornelius' viewpoint the angel had more authoritative-power and ability than he had.
Then the angel spoke his message - he didn't sing it or fly around while he was saying it! The angel told him that...
God did not ignore Cornelius' prayers to Him just because he was a Gentile who did not have holy spirit-life within him!
The angel also told Cornelius what he must do to get Simon Peter to his house and very specifically let him know where he was staying at that time (refer to Acts 9:43).
As the angel who spoke with him went away, Cornelius summoned three of his people who were attending-constantly to him - men he could rely on - and he related what happened and sent them forth to Joppa according to the angel's instructions to him.
Acts chapter 12 records events in which an angel helped Peter to escape from wrongful imprisonment:
.6But when Herod was about to lead him forth, that night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers having been bound2 with two chains, and prison-guards before the door kept the prison. .7And look!, an angel of (the) Lord stood-on (him) and a light shone in the housing-area, and having struck the side of Peter he raised him up saying, "You must stand-up in quickness," and his chains fell from (his) hands, .8and the angel said towards him, "You must gird-yourself and bind-under your sandals," and he did thus, and he says to him, "You must clothe-yourself-with your outer-garment and you must follow me."
.9And having gone-out he followed and he had not known that it is true, the-thing coming-to-pass by means of the angel, but he considered to observe a seen-object. .10And having gone-through (the) first prison-guard and (the) second (prison-guard) they came onto the gate, the iron (gate), the (gate) carrying into the city, the-one-which was opened automatically to them, and having gone-out they went-forth one narrow-street and immediately the angel departed away-from him.
During the night before Herod was on the point of taking Peter to the judgment area, Peter was doubly-chained between two soldiers and there were two prison-guards keeping an eye on things in front of the cell-door - but Peter was sleeping! He was not all nervous and upset about his situation; he was asleep.
And look (see, behold what happened)! – one of the Lord's angels stood on Peter (approached and took position over or near him), and absolute light shone as a lamp or torch beaming brightly and radiantly within the housing area (the cell, living-quarters) where Peter was.
This angel struck (knocked, beat) against Peter's side, which Peter must have felt to make him wake-up from sleep, and the angel raised him up from his sleeping position between the soldiers saying that he must stand-up with speed (swiftly) and the two chains fell off from Peter's hands.
Then the angel told him that he must gird his flowing garment around his loins (so that he is ready to do what the angel would tell him whether it would be service or conflict) and that he must tie his sandals underneath his feet. Peter did in this manner, and then the angel told him to cast his outer-garment around himself (perhaps it was a cool night outside) and that he must follow him.
When Peter went out he followed the angel as he was instructed by him, but he continued not to see (not to perceive, know) that what was happening to him by way of the Lord's angel was true, that it was really happening. But he supposed that he was mentally-seeing a seen-object, because as far as he was concerned it was just the same type of thing as a previous object which was presented to his eyes for his own knowledge and encouragement (refer to Acts 10:10-19 and 11:5).
Doesn't this clearly show us that when God or the Lord Jesus Christ communicates by means of a 'panoramic picture' to the "mind's eye" of a holy-person (Christian) that it is not a hazy or snowy picture because the 'satellite link’ or ‘cable connection’ is subject to interference! Peter had already experienced a seen-object, a 'panoramic picture' very clearly, and now the real-thing was similar.
When they both had come through the first prison-guard and then the second prison-guard, they came to the iron gate which led into the city, and a wing of this gate was caused to open spontaneously (self acting, moved without their help) to/for them. Then they went out and went forward one narrow street or laneway – and straightaway the angel stood away from Peter.
Verses 11 and 12:
.11And Peter having become in himself said, "Now I know truly that the Lord apostled-out His angel and took me to-Himself out from (the) hand of Herod and all the expectation of the people of the Judeans"; .12and having known-together he went on the house of Mary, the mother of John the (person) being called Mark, where there were sufficient-people having been gathered-together2 and praying.
As soon as Peter came to be by himself and not still thinking that he was watching a seen-object being presented to him (as he did in verse 9), he said to himself that at that time he knew (perceived, saw) with-truth that it was the Lord Who sent-forth His angel and took him out from under the power of Herod and all the anticipation of the Judean people (specifically referring to those who had refused to believe what God has given to be believed regarding Himself and His son, the Lord Jesus Christ; he was not referring to the holy-people, Christians, who were of the Judean/Israeli background).
When Peter had fully-perceived all that God had done for him by means of one of His angels, he went to the house where enough holy-people were inside assembled in a group together and they were praying (communicating to/with God, speaking towards/with God). What were they praying about? Peter's situation.
After Herod himself had looked for Peter and could not find him anywhere, he investigated and carefully-examined the prison-guards who were supposed to be watching him. But when they were not forth-coming as to where Peter was, Herod commanded that they receive the judicial sentence that Peter was supposed to receive - which was execution - death! Herod then went down from
Further along in this record it says:
Further along in this record it says:
.21But on an arranged day Herod, having clothed-himself-with kingly clothing having sat-down on the judgment-seat, addressed towards them, .22and the people sounded-on, "(The) sound of God and not man!" - .23but with-that an angel of (the) Lord struck him in-the-place of which-things he did not give the glory to God, and having become worm-eaten he ex-souled.
On an appointed day, Herod put on his ornate and splendid royal clothing and sat on the judicial-bench showing that he was the one who did the decision-making regarding all those in front of him. He spoke to the public assembly; he made a political speech (oration) towards them.
Then the people who were being addressed in that assembly voiced their opinion and approval shouting that Herod's sound (voice) was the sound of God and not the sound of man (mankind, any man)! They told Herod that as far as they were concerned when they heard his voice they were listening to their god. In response to Herod’s speech they put Herod in the place of the only true God!
But immediately an angel of the Lord struck (knocked, beat) Herod in return for his refusal to give the glory (importance, splendor, renown) to the only true God. Herod accepted what the people said and so put himself in total opposition to God - idolatry!
Following the angel's strike, Herod became the food of worms. He was devoured by worms from the inside out which resulted in him giving his last breath - his soul/breath-life went out of him - he expired, he died!
Acts chapter 27 records details of the time when Paul was a prisoner on board a ship during very bad weather - and an angel came to tell him an encouraging message from God:
.21And much fasting being-from-the-beginning, then Paul having been caused-to-stand in their midst said, "It was necessary indeed, oh adult-males, having been ruled-persuasively by me not to be led-up (by ship) away-from Crete to gain both this hurt and loss;
.22and the-things now – I advise you to be well-minded for there will be not-one throwing-away of soul from you, besides of the ship, .23for an angel of God, Whose I am and to Whom I render-service, stood-beside me this night .24saying, 'You must not be fearful, Paul, it is necessary (for) you to stand-beside Caesar; and look!, God has graced2 to you all the (people) sailing with you.'
.25On-this-account you must be well-minded, adult-males, for I believe God that thus it will be according to which manner it was uttered-forth2 to me, .26but it is necessary (for) us to fall into some island."
No-one on board the ship had eaten food (they had no appetite for it) since they started this part of their journey. At that time Paul stood up in the middle of them because he had received information from God via an angel regarding this situation. He said:
Romans chapter 8 records Paul teaching on the unchangeableness of God's love and Christ's love of/for all holy-people (true Christians) in the spirit category - and that angels cannot disrupt this relationship:
.35Who will separate us away-from the love1 of Christ, (will) pressure or restraint or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? .36According as it was written2 that, "By-reason-of You we are put-to-death the whole day, we were calculated as sheep of slaughter" – .37but in all these-things we are super-victorious by means of the (one) having loved1 us.
.38For I was persuaded2 that neither death nor life nor angels nor rulerships nor (things) having stood-in2 nor (things) being about to (stand-in) nor abilities .39nor high-thing nor depth nor different creation will be able to separate us away-from the love1 of God, the (love) in Christ Jesus our Lord.
In verse 38 Paul writes: In truth, I was persuaded and continue persuaded (convinced) that…
Nothing or nobody or no-spirit will be able to separate us away-from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I Corinthians chapter 6 records Paul teaching on the matter of judging inside of the church of God when certain situations arise - and that angels will be judged by holy-people (true Christians) at a future time:
I Corinthians 6:1-3:
6:1Does someone of you dare, having a matter towards the different-person, to be judged on the unrighteous-people and not on the holy-people? .2Or, you knew2 that the holy-people judge the world, don’t you? – (yes) – and since the world is judged in you, are you unworthy of (the) least judgments? .3You knew2 that we will judge angels, don't you? – (yes) – indeed-not-something (concerning) everyday-living!
The context here is within the church, not outside of the church. Paul is not advocating that every holy-person (Christian) must spend his time judging every other holy-person – no, definitely not - because this would contradict what Paul has taught elsewhere. But, the context here is referring to the time when holy-people do not agree on some matter and we need another person to make a decision, to give the judgment regarding this matter, as a court-case, in order to make a just-settlement between the two opposing parties.
We are to settle the matter peaceably within the church of God, not going outside to the law-courts of the unrighteous-people (unjust-people in the spirit category).
In verse 3 Paul writes: Don't you know (perceive) that we, all of us holy-people together, will in the future judge angels? The Greek construction of this question must receive the answer "yes, we know this." We holy-people will make decisions regarding angels after we have been gathered-together by our Lord Jesus Christ.
This kind of judgment indeed is not something which concerns matters or things of everyday living. It definitely is not dealing with matters fitting for this earthly life of mankind at this time because judging angels deals with spiritual matters. From the viewpoint of the present time - judging angels will be a big responsibility.
Paul did not expect them to make judgments regarding angels at that present time - but he did expect them to make judgments regarding the everyday living of holy-people when the need would arise among them. The Corinthian holy-people were fully capable of doing this now because they had already been given the ability, the able-power within them: holy spirit-life. They could line up their judgment with God's already written and revealed Word and they may receive information regarding a specific situation via their holy-spirit life.
I Corinthians chapter 13 records Paul's teaching on Godly-love in connection with spiritual-things in the church - and that one of these is uttering-forth with tongues in a language of men or of angels:
I Corinthians 13:1:
13:1if-ever I may utter-forth with the tongues of men and of angels but I may not have love1, I became2 copper sounding or a cymbal clanging;
If it should happen that I, Paul, would utter-forth (speak) with the tongues of men and the tongues of angels (it does not matter which language I would speak because it is my holy spirit-life which gives me the actual words to utter)…
There is nothing wrong with the words being uttered - but the behavior of the individual uttering-forth with tongues without doing this in Godly-love is wrong.
II Corinthians chapter 11 informs us that there are some people who pretend to be someone or something that they are not - just as satan pretends to be an angel of light:
II Corinthians 11:12-15:
.12But that-which I do also I will do in order that I may cut-off the starting-point of the (people) intending a starting-point in order that in that-which they boast they may be found according as also we (are), .13for the-people-of-this-kind (are) lying-apostles, deceitful workers, changing-their-outward-figure into apostles of Christ – .14and no marvel, for satan himself changes-his-outward-figure into an angel of light, .15therefore (it is) not a great-thing if also his ministers change-their-outward-figure as ministers of righteousness, whose completion will be according to their works.
Some people have a base of operation and they boast pretending that they are holy-people like Paul, and then those listening to them would think that they are ministers and/or apostles of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ!
In verse 13 Paul writes: In truth, such people are:
These lying-apostles who are also deceitful workers are changing their outward figure into Christ's apostles. They are altering their external-figure (their demeanor, deportment, their expressed personality) into Christ's apostles. Looking at the outside, surface-level, they appear to be apostles of Christ, but the truth is that they most definitely are NOT sent-forth by Christ!
And, this is not a marvelous thing, there's no reason to be astonished or look-on this with wonder and amazement. Why not?
Into what? An angel of light (absolute light, which is the opposite of darkness).
Light. Who is true light? God, the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ, is light. God is Light (refer to I John 1:5).
Contrary to God and the Lord Jesus Christ - satan is darkness and he abides in darkness. Part of satan's deception is to change his outward figure to portray that he is an angel consisting of light! The truth is that satan is complete darkness.
It is not a great-thing (no big deal, nothing large in measure, magnitude or estimation)…
Yes, presently there are spirits and people who serve satan in a ministerial capacity. However, the completion (the ending-issue, complete-thing, the fulfillment) of satan and all of his ministers will in the future be in accordance with their works which are against God Who is Light! Refer to Revelation 20:10.
Refer to Revelation 20:10.
II Corinthians chapter 12 reveals that Paul was constantly attacked by one of satan's angels in various ways:
II Corinthians 12:7:
.7And with the super-throw of the revelations, in order that I may not be super-lifted, there was given to me a thorn by flesh: (which is) an angel of satan in order that it may buffet me in order that I may not be super-lifted.
Paul writes: During the period of time that I was receiving the extreme greatness of the revelations regarding the third heaven and regarding Paradise…
Who or what was this "thorn"? An angel of satan – one of satan's angels! Yes, satan (the devil) has some angels under his command at the present time.
Satan sent one of his angels (spirit messengers) specifically pointed at Paul. Why?
If satan's angel could discredit Paul in the minds of himself and other people, then what Paul spoke or did would not be believed.
Satan continues to try to hinder and put a stop to the purposes, the words, and works of the only true God.
Satan could only hurt Paul in the flesh category because the holy spirit-life within Paul could not be hurt or damaged in any way by anyone or anything. Satan so hated the way Paul was walking with and for God and the Lord Jesus Christ, that he commissioned one of his angels pointed at Paul to buffet him.
However, Paul knew exactly what was going on in the spirit realm, which affected him in the fleshy, physical realm. The visions and revelations referred to in verses 2-4 in this chapter were for Paul’s knowledge only - satan would not have known what the Lord Jesus Christ revealed to Paul when he revealed it to him. Paul continued to receive revelation from the Lord Jesus Christ throughout his lifetime as we know from the Book of Acts and the letters he wrote after that time which was 14 years earlier to when II Corinthians was written.
Now we can more-fully understand why so many terrible things used to happen to Paul while he was traveling throughout that area ministering and doing the work which God and the Lord Jesus Christ asked him to do. Satan had sent one of his angels to buffet Paul by/via his flesh in many different ways (by provoking people, or by causing something to happen, etc), as recorded in II Corinthians chapter 11:
…in labors more-exceedingly, in prisons more-exceedingly, in strokes super-throwingly, in deaths often, .24I received five-times forty aside-from one (lashes) by (the) Judeans, .25three-times I was beaten-with-a-rod, once I was stoned, three-times I shipwrecked, I have done and continue to do a night-and-a-day in the deep, .26journeys-on-the-way often, dangers of rivers, dangers of robbers, dangers from genus, dangers from Gentiles, dangers in a city, dangers in a desert-place, dangers in (the) sea, dangers among lying-brothers, .27labor and travail, in sleeplessnesses often, in famine and thirst, in fastings often, in coldness and nakedness;….
However, no matter how much buffeting this angel (devil-spirit, demon) from satan caused Paul by using the environment, the weather, people, animals, etc, which caused hurt and damage to him in the flesh category - Paul still had holy spirit-life within him which could not be hurt or damaged or removed, and by-which he communicated to/with God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Galatians chapter 1 records Paul teaching that an angel may communicate something contrary to the good message of Christ:
.6I marvel that thus quickly you changed away-from the (One) having called you in grace into a different good-message .7which is not another except there are some-people disturbing you and intending to turn the good-message of Christ – .8but even if-ever we or an angel from heaven may good-message to you against that-which we good-messaged to you, he must be a cursed-offering, .9as we said-beforehand2, and now again I say: if some (person or angel) good-messages (among) you against that-which you received (from us), he must be a cursed-offering.
In verse 8 Paul writes: Even if it should happen that…
Any person (no matter who he is or claims to represent) or any angel (no matter which spiritual kingdom it claims to represent, whether it would be one of the only true God's angels or it would be one of satan's angels, his devil-spirits)…
In fact, they were to set the person or spirit making known this opposing gospel to be devoted to destruction, put-aside being an accursed-thing as far as they were to think and behave.
Paul continues by emphatically repeating himself: as we (myself and those with me) communicated with words to you previously and what we said has not changed, and now again I lay it out before you since it is happening…
Colossians chapter 2 informs us that there are people who attempt to make a religion about angels:
.18Not-one-person must give-the-prize-against you intending in humbleness-of-mind and religion of the angels...
It is imperative that nobody would umpire against you giving the prize to somebody or something else and so deprive you of your reward...
Humbleness-of-mind and religion of what? Of, pertaining to, with respect to the angels!
All holy-people are sons of God having the spirit of Christ within us. We are on a level with the Lord Jesus Christ – not level with the angels nor lower than the angels! It is wrong to worship any angel in the place of the only true God – this would be idolatry!
II Thessalonians chapter 1 informs us that able angels will come with the Lord Jesus Christ to earth at a future time:
II Thessalonians 1:6-10:
.6since-indeed (it is) righteous with God to repay pressure to the (ones) pressuring you, .7and to you, the (people) being pressured, relief with us in the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his able angels .8in flame of fire giving vengeance to the (ones) not having known2 God and to the (ones) not obeying the good-message of our Lord Jesus, .9the-ones-who will pay right: agelong destruction away-from (the) face of the Lord and away-from the glory of his strength, .10whenever he may come to be in-glorified in his holy-people, even to be marveled-at among all the (people) having believed because our witness on you was believed, in that day,
Paul writes that it is righteous (just) in God's viewpoint:
In Paul's first letter to these Thessalonian holy-people, he taught them that all the holy-people (true Christians, those who have received the gift of holy spirit) will first be united together with the Lord Jesus Christ (refer to I Thessalonians 4:13-17) and we will from that moment onwards forever be with him.
Therefore, following that event, when the Lord from heaven is revealed with his able angels, we holy-people – having received our new spiritual bodies and rewards (refer to I Corinthians chapter 15 and II Corinthians 5:10) – will be together with him helping our Lord Jesus Christ, and the angels will be with us also. We will not be suffering persecutions and pressures at that time – we will have relief.
I Timothy chapter 5 informs us that the selected angels are with God and Christ Jesus:
I Timothy 5:21:
.21I throughly-witness before God and Christ Jesus and the selected angels in order that you may keep-watch (regarding) these-things without judgment-beforehand doing nothing according to a leaning-towards (it).
Paul writes: I bear complete witness in the sight and presence of…
…for the purpose and result that you, Timothy, would be vigilant to watch and guard these things (what I am writing in this letter)…
Hebrews chapter 1 provides a lot of detail regarding angels and their standing in relation to God, to the Lord Jesus Christ, and to all holy-people:
Hebrews 1:3 and 4:
.3...sat-down in (the) right-side of the Greatness in high (places) .4having become so-much stronger-than angels by as-much-as he inherited2 a name more-different beside them.
Paul writes that God's son, who is the Lord Jesus Christ…
.5For to which of the angels did He say at-some-time, “You are My son, I have begotten2 you today” and again “I will be to him for a Father, and he will be to Me for a son”? .6But again whenever He may lead the firstborn into the inhabited-area He says, “And all angels of God must worship him.” .7And towards indeed the angels He says, “The (One) making His angels – spirits, even His official-servants – flame of fire.”
In truth, to which one of the angels did God say at any time…
And in addition…
There is no answer written down to this two-part question because the answer should be known and obvious to all who read and/or heard what the prophets including Jesus spoke – God did not at any time say these words to or regarding any one of the angels.
Verse 6 continues: ...whenever God may lead the firstborn into the inhabited-area (the dwelled-in part of the world, here referring to the still-future time when Christ will come again on earth, refer to Hebrews 2:5) He says…
And with a purposed reference to the angels - God says…
Further along in this record it says:
Further along in this record it says:
Verses 13 and 14:
.13But towards which of the angels did He say2 at-some-time, “You must sit-down out-from My right-sides until ever I may put your enemies (the) footstool of your feet”? .14All are official-serving spirits being apostled into (the) ministry because-of the (people) being about to inherit salvation, aren’t they? - (yes.)
Towards (with a purposed reference to) which one of the angels did God say at any time, and continuing to be applicable, effective and in force…
There is no answer written to this question – it should be well known that God only spoke this to His son, the Lord Jesus Christ. God put the resurrected Christ sitting-down at His right-hand side carrying out all that God asks and needs him to accomplish for Him.
Today, the Lord Jesus Christ does not replace God, but God has given him all the authority, etc, he needs to carry out God’s intention (His will) – he is the king in effect at this moment for a specific duration of time as prophesied by David and Paul.
The next question is constructed in Greek in such a manner that the unwritten answer must be: “Yes.”
All are official-serving spirits (all the angels are spirit-beings performing the office, work, official-duty pertaining to public service attending to their superior; refer to verse 7 above)…
Yes, all the angels are official-serving spirits being apostled into the ministry because of the people being about to inherit salvation. God’s angels continue to perform their assignments of benefiting the heirs of salvation. Today’s heirs of salvation are holy-people (Christians, those who have received the gift of holy spirit).
Hebrews chapter 13 tells us that angels can make themselves known to mankind in the form of human-beings:
.2You must not forget the love-to-strangers, for by means of this some-people un-noticed having lodged angels as-guests.
You must not cause yourselves to forget (to willingly escape to place notice on, cease to pay attention to, disregard)…
In truth, by means of (through) this brotherly love to strangers some people did not notice (it by-passed their minds’ knowledge) that those whom they were receiving into their company as guests were angels. Examples of this were: Abraham and Sarah, Lot, Manoah, and Gideon. They did not know that they were being hospitable towards angels until later.
James chapter 2 refers to human messengers:
.25But likewise also Rahab the female-fornicator was made-righteous from works having accepted the messengers underneath (her roof) and having thrown (them) out by a different way, wasn’t she? – (yes.)
Rahab, who had been a prostitute, was made-righteous from works - what works? - after…
The Greek construction of this question must receive an affirmative answer: "yes, she was.” This word translated as "messengers" comes from the Greek word aggello which means to tell or deliver a message in official service via words and/or actions, and therefore this word can be translated into English as “angel” or “messenger.”
In verse 25, these messengers were the human men whom Joshua had sent to spy on the land and bring a message back to him of what they found-out; refer to Joshua 2:1-21 and Joshua 6:17 and 25, where the Hebrew refers to these men as messengers. These men were not spirit-beings but they did the same function for Joshua. In Hebrews 11:31 Paul refers to these same men as: scoping people (spies, scouts, those who were sent to look intensely at the city of Jericho, as a target, to closely watch and view the city).
We should note that the Bible shows us that no human-being was or is or will be a spirit-being angel! Rahab did the works of helping these human messengers within the cause and sphere of action of the belief that God had communicated to her (refer to Hebrews 11:31 for details).
I Peter chapter 3 tells us that angels have been subjected to the resurrected Christ:
I Peter 3:21 and 22:
.21...by means of (the) resurrection of Jesus Christ .22who is in (the) right-side of God having journeyed into heaven, angels and authorities and abilities having been subjected to him.
Verse 22 says that the Lord Jesus Christ is located in the right-side of God and that he has already journeyed into heaven...
II Peter chapter 2 informs us that some angels are confined awaiting their final judgment:
II Peter 2:4:
.4For if God did not spare angels having sinned but He gave (them) over to bands of thick-darkness having confined (them) being kept into judgment;
God did not spare angels having sinned (He did not abstain from doing something to/with the spirit-beings who missed the mark of God’s Word to them, who swerved from the truth of what God said to/for them so that they would behave accordingly)...
The verb translated “confined” is the Greek verb tartaroo which was used by some people to refer to the Greek mythological prison of the Titans or giants, but in fact it refers to the confinement of the angels which caused the corruption of mankind’s genetics prior to the flood. The children (progeny, descendants) of these fallen angels (which controlled fleshy human men, giving them super-human powers as supermen) and female human-beings were known as the “fallen-ones” in Hebrew (nephilim). Anyone stained by this genetic deformity (genetic engineering) could not be saved to God at any time because they did not have the same genetic make-up as the original man (Adam) that God had created.
The word “judgment” is the action of pronouncing sentence, the passing of judgment regarding those angels' wrong behavior which will result in their death at the final judgment time.
Jude chapter 1 refers to the angels who are confined awaiting their final judgment:
Jude 1:6 and 7:
.6and the angels not having kept the rulership of themselves but having left-away (their) own dwelling-place, He kept2 into judgment of (the) great day in perpetual bonds under thick-darkness, .7as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, the like manner to these (angels), having utterly-fornicated and having gone-away behind different flesh, lie-before (us as) a pointing-out of agelong fire undergoing right.
Jude writes that the angels...
Sodom and Gomorrah were cities that were in existence during Abraham's lifetime, but while Abraham was living God caused Sodom and Gomorrah to be burned-up because of the evils (such as homosexuality, lesbianism, different flesh, idolatry, etc) that the people in those cities were doing against God.
God first made known to Abraham, via one of His ruling angels, what would happen, and Abraham had time to ask about any righteous people still living in those cities. God, via two of His angels, had Abraham's brother's son, Lot, and his wife and two daughters rescued out from Sodom.
Revelation chapter 1 records John introducing this writing (book) regarding where the information came from - and that an angel was sent by the Lord Jesus Christ to John:
Revelation 1:1 and 2:
1:1Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him to point-out to His slaves, which-things are necessary to come-to-pass in quickness, and he signified having apostled by means of his angel to his slave John, .2who witnessed the word of God and the witness of Jesus Christ as-many-things-as he saw.
This is the Revelation of Jesus Christ (the information that has been uncovered or revealed pertaining-to and proceeding-from Jesus Christ, as though removing a veil to expose what had previously been hidden)...
...and Jesus Christ signified (gave the signal, designated and authenticated these things, as recorded throughout this writing)...
Revelation chapter 22 gives us a little more information about the angel and that Jesus Christ revealed this information via his angel so that people could know it:
Revelation 22:8, 9 and 16:
.8And I - John, the (person) hearing and observing these-things, even when I heard and observed - fell to worship in-front-of the feet of the angel, the (angel) pointing-out these-things to me, .9and he says to me, "You must see not (to do that); I am a slave-together with you and your brothers, the prophets, and the (people) keeping the words of this book - you must worship God."
.16"I Jesus sent my angel to witness these-things to you, on the churches. I am the root and the genus of David - the star, the shining (star), the early (star)."
In verse 16 John writes the words that he hears from the Lord Jesus Christ:
